Description
During the First World War, 670 people were killed and nearly 2,000 wounded in air raid attacks on the Capital. Two London buses were destroyed in an attack on 8 September 1915. The driver of one, Charles Tarrant and his conductor, Charles Rogers, were both killed. They had been based at Hendon Garage in north London. This postcard, made at the time, shows their funeral procession. Two buses have been decorated with wreaths. Friends and colleagues of Tarrant and Rogers are marching alongside wearing black armbands.
